History of the prettiest ninja
Jun. 7th, 2014 04:26 pmHimemaru was born to Iga samurai Hattori Juuzou, and his (possibly kunoichi) wife. The child was raised to be a good samurai, but after his mother died while he was young, his father got stricter, and Himemaru couldn't bear the intense training and lack of sleep, so he ran away when he was 7 years old, and instead turned to the kunoichi village belonging to the Iga clan.
Studying joujutsu under the chuunin ninja Momochi, he became the protege of Kamura and the friend of Kagari and Kisarabi. Well, sort of, when it came to Kagari. They fought and fight a lot of the time.
He was chosen as one of four kunoichi to help restoring the fallen Katana household, and Himemaru decided to seduce the lord, so he could be wealthy. It went pretty well, pretending to be a travelling musician and an antagonist, while appearing in front of Katana Raizou in male clothing. He then pretended that he (now in female clothing) had saved Raizou from the enemy. Everything was going well until Kagari and Kisarabi showed up, and Himemaru's "spell" was broken, with Raizou finding out that Himemaru was a man. Through a faceplant in Himemaru's crotch. He still ended up travelling with Raizou, Kagari and Kisarabi, however, because it was his mission and he was still set on seducing Raizou.
Because Himemaru and Kagari keep on fighting all the time, Raizou and Kisarabi arranged a tea ceremony. After Raizou had drunk from the cup and passed it on, both Himemaru and Kagari tried to find the same place where Raizou's lips touched, so that they could get an indirect kiss. This caused the two kunoichi to fight, and the cup to break. And the fight to get worse. This made Raizou pass out from exhaustion, and the three kunoichi decide to do what they can to make their lord feel better. Himemaru's first idea was to get naked and warm him up with his body, but then he decided to make medicine, since Kisarabi got angry. The first batch of medicine that he made caused their lord to bleed, and the second one made Himemaru get sick. In the end, Raizou had to take care of all three kunoichi, after they all got sick.
Himemaru pretended to be sick longer than he was, though. Kisarabi tells Kagari and Himemaru to stop fighting and that Kabuki Seigan (sort of the "arch enemy" of the Katana family) has invaded the Katana castle. As the four set off again because it's gotten dangerous to be there, Himemaru screws with Kagari saying she'll end up as a faliure of a kunoichi if she doesn't learn to control her feelings.
When they arrive to a town, they get asked if they are "Kagari-sama and her group" by people from an inn, and then given both food and housing. Everyone except Kagari thinks that it might be a trap. As it turns out, the meal and room was provided by Mizuchi, a money loving kunoichi who loves Kagari. Mizuchi is the fourth of the ninja chosen to help restore the Katana household. When they wake up the next morning, they find both Raizou and Mizuchi gone, and finds out that Mizuchi kidnapped him. Himemaru saves Raizou from falling to a painful death, and they confront Mizuchi. The only punishemnt the girl gets is a flick on the forehead and a scolding from Kagari, though. When Mizuchi leaves, she also leaves a note for them to go to Oumi, where princess Hibari of the Kaburagi household is looking for a husband.
To get inside the Kaburagi castle, they devised a plan where Raizou became Hibari's savior, and the kunoichi dressed up as bandits. Things went well and Raizou was able to talk to Hibari directly, and he was invited to the castle. When Raizou is allowed to work in the castle, the three kunoichi appear to offer their services as their lords servants. The next morning, they are woken up by Hibari's attendant before sunrise, and are made to accompany the princess on ther duties. Because her schedule is so packed, however, a week later Raizou finds her asleep, and to give her some rest, Raizou lets her sleep in her carrier, even after she is supposed to attend duties. Hibari's attendant is furious, but since there was an explosion on the location where Hibari was supposed to be, he did save her life a second time. At that location, though, was the kunoichi, but they managed to save everyone thanks to their techniques.
After Hibari scolds Raizou for letting her rest, Kagari gets mad and has to be stopped by Himemaru and Kisarabi. But because the princess collapses from fatigue in the evening, Raizou takes her to a secluded place away from the castle, while Himemaru gets to fill in for Hibari from the morning. This makes Himemaru very happy, as it's a taste of the life that he wants. Though he's busted toward the evening, and Himemaru and Kisarabi were captured. They're tied up with a swastika knot, which is a knot used especially for tying up shinobi. They are almost killed, but saved by Hibari. She said that everything had been according to her orders.
At the meal that day, Hibari was almost poisoned, but thankfully, she wasn't. However, Raizou and his ninja were accused of being the perpetrators, but it is disproven by Himemaru, who shows that it was not the food that had been poisoned, but the princess' chopsticks. When Raizou offers his thanks later, Himemaru asks for more of a visible thank you, but is knocked in the face by Kagari. When they find out that Hibari is headed for Raizou's room, the kunoichi hides in the ceiling, and hear Raizou being accused of plotting against the princess, because the soldiers had found the armors that the kunoichi used when first tricking the princess. Except it wasn't the real armors, as Kagari told everyone. They are all arrested by a young new soldier and locked up in the castle dungeon.
They get stripped of all clothes and weapons, and instead dressed in not so modest outfits that's basically just pieces of fabric to cover up their privates. Himemaru gets his chest covered as well, though, apparently still believed to be a woman despite the fact that he had been completely stripped. They find themselves sharing a cell with a corpse, and they also figure out that the castle has been infiltrated by Kabuki Seigan's men. Suddenly the corpse starts talking, and as it turns out, the corpse was Hibari's father. When Raizou realizes that he can use Kisarabi's eyes as mirrors, he sees Kagari, who can use her technique (which had been sealed by Raizou being unable to see her) and free them all.
They appear just in time to save princess Hibari (again). When the true perpetrator, Akechi Juubee Mitsuhide (n officer of Kabuki Seigan), tries to threaten them by holding Hibari hostage, she's cut off by his ally who is in a panic, and Raizou stops the bullet he's about to shoot from hitting. Himamaru stops an enemy kunoichi from being able to use her whips, and the three Iga ninja defeat the enemy to a great point, and would have continued fighting if not for Juubee deciding to give up and leave. When Hibari's father asks Raizou to marry Hibari, everything seems like it's settled, but Raizou can't get over the fact that he's a "demon child" because he's got a horn, and ends up running away, kunoichi in tow.
A few days after that, the kunoichi's master Momochi shows up, carrying "the undrawable blade", originally called "the onikiri sword", which is an Iga treasure said to have been wielded by oni demons. Momochi tells them that the three kunoichi are to withdraw from their mission, and that they are to be replaced by other kunoichi. As they do not want that, they challenge their master. The next day, they are unable to defeat Momochi, but they are able to win the duel, none the less, because the objective was to protect Raizou from him for an hour. Or rather, he managed to draw onikiri, and push back Momochi long enough. After Momochi leaves, it turns out that Raizou can't draw Onikiri a second time.
They get a new message from Mizuchi, with a wife suggestion, and finds that the destination is sealed off and that they have stepped inside a barrier. Raizou gets dragged into the duel to become the family head of the Yagyuu family, and they meet the princess Mizuchi had suggested, Izuna. Izuna instantly challenges Raizou, but when she realizes that they have no idea what they've stumbled into, she instead kills a snake to eat, and tells them of the Yagyuu village.
note: this post only goes up until Himemaru's chosen canon point. The rest of the history will be posted in comments below, when I've finished writing it.
as for the year, Rappi Rangai's main storyline likely takes place in 1560 / 3rd year of the Eiroku era, the Muromachi period year 223 as earliest in June.
